In a normal eye, light enters the cornea and passes through a clear lens which helps to focus images onto the retina (the back of the eye where images are received.) A cataract is a cloudiness that develops in the naturally clear lens of the eye, thus blocking light from entering the eye, consequently impairing vision.

We at the Laser Vision Center perform cataract surgery through the most modern technology employing an Ultrasound machine (Phacoemulsification technique). The ultrasound equipment uses a small ultrasound needle which softens the cataract and then vacumes the lens material gently from the eye.
A small artificial Intraocular lens (IOL) is then inserted in place of the clouded human lens. The vision is consequently restored. The surgery takes about half an hour and the patient can return home Immediately.

  • Incision made in the eye during the surgery is very small as compared to
        that made during ECCE.
  • Less pain.
  • Much quicker healing.
  • Normal vision the very next day.
  • No dependency on thick glasses/contact lenses.
  • Resumption of routine activities the very next day.
