Taylor Swift and Kylie Jenner Got LASIK: Is LASIK Right For You Too?

You may have heard the news that Taylor Swift and Kylie Jenner got LASIK, and the results for both A-list celebrities have been nothing short of impressive. After a quick procedure, both had no problems seeing their worlds clearly without any help from contact lenses and glasses.

However, Swift and Jenner weren’t the only ones that have gotten LASIK to get their best vision. Kim Kardashian got it too. Overall, LASIK has helped countless people from all walks of life shake off the hassle and cost of contacts and glasses and get the clear vision they always wanted.

Is LASIK right for you? Read on to find out!

Taylor Swift’s Lasik Experience

There was something about Taylor Swift’s recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that was truly memorable. Sure, hearing her talk about her new album was enough to get us grooving along to some of her songs, but the thing that really stuck out to us was the previously unseen video Swift’s mother secretly shared with Fallon.

It was a video of Taylor after her recent LASIK surgery.

Even if you don’t watch The Tonight Show, you’ve probably at least heard about this viral video where we see Taylor complete with protective post-surgery eyewear crying over a banana.

Despite the good-natured embarrassment that Taylor experienced while watching the video, she did share that she’s very excited about her LASIK results. In the interview, she told Fallon that “It was great! I really can see very well.”

Kylie Jenner's Lasik Experience

Influencer Kylie Jenner and her best friend Stassie live a comfortable life. However, they still needed LASIK to improve their eyesight, and that’s exactly what they got.

In a recent vlog, Stassie chronicled her and Jenner’s LASIK experience from start to finish and gave viewers an inside look at just how simple and effective the procedure was for both of them. As soon as the surgery was over, the vlog showed Stassie sit up and read the clock on the wall—something she hadn’t been able to do without contacts or glasses in years.

Then, after a 5-hour nap at Jenner’s and a good night’s sleep, both influencers headed to the eye doctor for their follow-up appointment. Here, they learned that LASIK helped them achieve 20/20 vision.

How Does Lasik Eye Surgery Work?

LASIK (Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) is one of the most common vision correction procedures performed. It corrects most degrees of myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism.

For Jenner, Swift, and all other qualified patients, LASIK is a relatively simple surgery and is designed to provide years of crystal-clear eyesight. Typically, it involves a few main steps.

Here are the four steps to LASIK:

Step 1: The eye is anesthetized with topical eye drops

Step 2: The surgeon creates a corneal flap on the outer layer of the eye.

Step 3: Laser reshapes the cornea

Step 4: The corneal flap is replaced like closing the cover of a book

After the procedure, most people will notice dramatically better vision as soon as they sit up. Your eyesight may not be completely clear, and they may be a bit sensitive to light after the surgery, so, like Taylor Swift after her surgery, you’ll want to make sure you have a ride home after yours.

Benefits of Lasik

LASIK eye surgery is one of the most advanced and most effective vision correction options available. With its ability to finally help patients get rid of their glasses and contact lenses, it’s easy to see why the biggest celebrities choose to get LASIK.

In addition to improved vision, LASIK eye surgery offers other benefits, including:

  • Fast 20-minute surgery for both eyes

  • Eliminating the need for contact lenses and glasses

  • Topical anesthetic drops used to minimize discomfort during the procedure

  • Long-lasting results

LASIK recovery is also quick and easy. You’ll also be able to resume normal, day-to-day activities within a few days.
